Since Imtiaz Ali acquired the biopic rights to Amar Singh Chamkila, there has been much speculation about who will play the lead role in the film. Kartik Aaryan and Ayushmann Khurrana were both considered for the role.

According to reports, neither of the two stars has been chosen for the project. In reality, the biopic will star singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh.

According to a tabloid report, the biopic producers were looking for an actor who could also sing. Imtiaz Ali’s project is one-of-a-kind, and he needed someone who could embody the character. 

When Diljit Dosanjh was approached, he jumped at the chance because Chamkila is one of his musical idols.

For those who are unaware, Amar Singh Chamkila was a wildly popular Punjabi singer-composer who was tragically assassinated in March 1988 along with his wife and two band members. Amar Singh Chamkila is still regarded as one of Punjab’s most talented live stage performers. Punjabi culture and society, particularly village life, influenced his songs. The precise reason for his assassination is still unknown.

Imtiaz Ali will make the film a commercial success, although it will be a mix of facts and fantasy. He has completed the script and has made changes to it over time. Amar Singh Chamkila’s love life, controversies, music, and assassination will be part of the storyline. Window Seat Films will co-produce the film with Reliance Entertainment.

Imtiaz Ali’s next film would be the Amar Singh Chamkila biopic, following the 2020 romantic drama ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’. While his most recent film failed to impress audiences, it cannot overshadow the fact that the talented filmmaker is the man behind films such as ‘Socha Na Tha,’ ‘Jab We Met,’ ‘Rockstar,’ and ‘Highway.’ As a result, his fans’ expectations for his upcoming directorial are obviously high.
